Adhesives
Adhesives that are capable of operating at high temperatures while maintaining strength and structure are in demand in a wide variety of applications. Under these extreme conditions very few materials are able to provide the adhesive characteristics necessary; most of the standard organic adhesive materials such as epoxies simply decompose at relatively moderate temperatures (>200 °C). KDT polysilazane resins have exceptional adhesive properties and upon excursion to high temperatures (>750 °C) undergo a high temperature condensation process which converts the polymer to a ceramic with little mass loss. These resins can be used to bond together a variety of materials including metals, ceramics, glass, etc. Polysilazanes can be used either alone as the only resin or may be combined with other adhesive resins such as epoxies to improve thermal performance.
Benefits of Using KDT Polysilazanes as Adhesives:
- High thermal stability
- High bond strength with many substrates including metals, ceramics, and glass
- One-part heat curable system
- No solvent
