U.S. Military And Defense
KiON Defense Technologies is the sole provider of Ceraset® Polysilazane resins for U.S. Military and Defense related applications. A novel liquid ammonia manufacturing process allows KDT to offer these resin at high volume and low cost. KDT polysilazane resins find utility in a variety of U.S. Military and Defense applications and are specifically designed for the fabrication of structural parts that are light weight, have high temperature stability, and high strength. Within the U.S. Military and Defense sectors, KDT polymers can be used in military aircraft, vehicles, etc. as structural components (CMCs, PMC, etc.) or as high temperature ceramic coatings. In addition, KDT polymer resins are high char forming materials that maintain their mechanical durability when exposed to flame; thus in fire situations, structural components fabricated with KDT polymers maintain their excellent mechanical properties, structural integrity, and prevent fire/smoke spread.
KDT also provides polymer resins for missile systems. Through an exclusive license with Textron Systems, KDT is the sole manufacturer of the DI-200 resin system for U.S. Military and Defense applications. KDT Ceraset DI-200 resin is often used as a matrix resin for quartz fiber reinforced composites. Such composites possess exceptional electronic properties and thermal stability, enabling their use as missile radomes. Other remarkable features of DI-200 composites are their excellent dielectric properties and very low transmission loss which is very stable over the frequency band of 8-14 GHz. A broadband tactical missile radome fabricated using a 2DQ/DI-200 composite has been shown to be capable of surviving a Mach 4 to mach 6 aerothermal environment. DI-200 quartz fabric composites have been used to fabricate radomes, antenna windows and other defense products where their excellent physical, electrical, and thermal properties are needed. DI-200 has also been used to make high temperature syntactic foams with exceptional insulation properties.
